Daily Post Challenge for Today.

Quick Tip: Getting the Good Shot

Now remember — you need not use a phone to participate in this challenge or any other challenge we share here at the Daily Post. You can use any camera you prefer.

    • Shoot from the hip: Grab your phone or your camera and experiment with NOT framing shots. Walk around your neighborhood, head downtown, and keep pressing that shutter button while holding the camera at hip level.

I do not live in an urban area but I found a willing subject on my front porch and shot from the hip.  I’ve never done this before and I really like the results I got.

    • Shoot from the heel: How low can you go? Now that you’ve taken a few shots from the hip, get even lower. Sit on a park bench, or maybe the lowest stair on your stoop. Hold the camera as low as you can and snap away.

I recently attended a retreat on a beautiful property on a lake.  These are pictures of an old dock and I liked the perspective when I got down low.

    • Share your favorite perspective: Let’s open it up — as a photographer, what’s your favorite perspective to shoot from? Why do you feel that way? In the comments, share a bit about the angle you prefer to shoot from. Bonus points if you can link to a few photos you’ve taken that show off your favorite perspective.

I don’t know if I have a favorite perspective.  When I look at a scene, a person, or an object, I like to focus on something unique or beautiful about the subject.  I do like to focus on little details though I also love to capture an expansive view.  When I really think about it, when I take a picture, I am trying to capture a feeling.  Here are some examples.
