Write it on your heart
that every day is the best day in the year.
He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day
who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety.
Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in.
Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
This new day is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on the yesterdays.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today I woke up a few minutes earlier than usual. I looked out the window and saw that the sun was rising. I threw on my clothes, grabbed my camera, jumped in the car, and drove down the street to a nearby school. As I took several pictures, my fingers cold from the freezing morning temperature, my camera lens full of the panorama before me, a deep emotion welled up inside of me. I felt like I was in the presence of God Himself; the magnificent sky resplendent with brilliant colors. Right there, He was speaking to me of love, beauty, hope, and the promise of a new day.
Therefore, we are not discouraged; rather, although our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.
~ 2 Corinthians 4:16
Today I am grateful to God for a new day.
This is Day 14 of the 21-Day Gratitude Challenge
This is also my second response to this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Layers.
