In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth – and the earth was without form or shape, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the waters. Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good.
~ Genesis 1:1
Whether the creation story from the Bible of how the world was formed is accurate or not, humans cannot live without light. Without light (namely the sun), life would cease to exist. Ever since humans have existed, we have been fascinated with light. The need for light is written in our DNA, our very souls. Without light, we cannot see. Without light, we cannot survive. Without light, we cannot thrive and grow.
During this Christmas season, our family celebrates the coming of a specific Light. This Light came to illumine our souls. This Light dispels sadness, darkness, and gloom. This Light fills us with hope, and peace, and joy. This Light brings Life. This Light is Love. And with this Light, we are able to thrive and grow and be the best versions of ourselves that we can be.
With great gratitude, we welcome the “Light of the World” anew at Christmas time.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;
Upon those who lived in a land of gloom a light has shone.
~ Isaiah 9:1
