Above photo: Beautiful wild gaillardia flowers go unnoticed as cars drive along Route 12 which is the only highway that traverses through the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This section is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore
I apologize for not posting during the past two weeks. I have been away on vacation with my extended family. Not only was it restful and relaxing, it was so wonderful to have the opportunity to focus on our relationships – putting aside work, (most of) social media, and even TV, and just enjoying being with one another.
I found that when we put aside those distractions, we are able to notice the beautiful details that sometimes we take for granted – a refreshing sea breeze, a glorious sunset, a sandy beach, a lovely glass of wine, “Taco Tuesday”, a rousing game of Taboo, corny jokes, children’s laughter, the smile on a loved one’s face.
How can life be so good? I pray that this feeling will stay with me the whole year through until we are able to go away for vacation again. 🙂
What are you thankful for?

I imagine those are overlooked in that area. Thankful you found them and shared with us.

But you noticed those wild gaillardia flowers, and what a lovely shot 🙂 So nice to hear that you’ve been unplugged and spending time with those who matter to you. When we slow down, we learn to appreciate what we have around us and discover the simply joys of life. It’s Friday, and I’m thankful for the weekend so I can do just that 🙂

Don’t you just love Hatteras?? We live about 2 hours away and often make day trips and vacation there every year.
