Yesterday, I came home from work and discovered that we had no running water. The cause – a water main break in our neighborhood. I was suddenly very thirsty. Well, there goes cooking dinner. Oh and we can’t wash dishes. Oh shoot, don’t flush the toilet! And then…oh no, what if I can’t take a shower in the morning before work? Can’t do the laundry. No brushing teeth or washing hands either. I have to admit, I was a little bit in a panic.

So we jumped in the car and stopped at friend’s house (who had water) and filled up jugs to use for our toilets. We stopped at the store and bought drinking water. And then we went out to dinner.

While we enjoyed our meal, I got a text from my daughter-in-law who lives around the corner saying they had water.

Sure enough, when we got home, our water was running again. All was right with the world.

What do you often take for granted but know that you can’t live without? What are you thankful for?
