Four years ago today, I published my first blog post on Momdeavor. Although I did not realize it at the time, it was my first step into a journey; a journey that would cause me to discover a hidden talent – an artistic eye for beauty, which became evident through the development of my photography skills. Reading again that first post and then glancing through several others I have written over these past four years, it’s fascinating to observe my own personal growth especially through photography but also to observe the evolution of what was at first a curiosity (blogging) and how it became a means of expression for the artist that had been dormant inside of me for so long. I was 50 years old when I began this journey, a wife and a busy mother of nine children. Over the past four years, using my camera to capture beauty in my ordinary daily life, a passion to discover beauty awoken within myself.
The blogosphere, particularly here at WordPress, has opened up a whole new world to me. By participating in the WordPress weekly photo challenges and daily prompts, I am challenged to develop my skills as a photographer and a blog writer. Something that I did not anticipate was the exposure to the varied and different points of view of other participants of these challenges. The diversity and uniqueness of so many submissions has inspired me to broaden my perception of the world around me and to appreciate differences in others.
This awareness has led me to a new discovery. Namely, beauty can be found in each and every person. Beauty can be found everywhere. I just have to look more closely or at a different angle, maybe changing my perspective or point of view.
