Flowers are my most popular subject here on my blog – shot often times in close-up. But sometimes, when the flower bush is tall or covered with large flowers, I like to take a few steps back to capture the whole effect. To demonstrate proportion and scale, I like to include a person or something common, like a path, road or bench. In viewing a common object compared to a large mountain or a small forest stream, the viewer can better comprehend the vastness or smallness of the subjects in the picture.
Here, my husband and I discovered beautiful large dahlias at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, NY.
Keep an eye out for future posts about the New York Botanical Garden. There was so much to see.
On a side note – this is my 400th post! I have been blogging since March, 2013 which means that I have been averaging 100 posts a year – a statistic that surprises me but also encourages me to keep blogging.
